The Korean Association for Feminist
Studies in English Literature was
founded in 1992 to encourage advancements
in literary criticism and theory
from a feminist perspective while
raising awareness of feminism within
the academic community.
Our association serves as a forum
for scholars and graduate students
to discuss a wide range of topics
in English literature, cultural
studies and social issues as they
pertain to feminism. The national
and international conferences, workshops,
publications and various other programs
we sponsor help us realize our twofold
ambition: to introduce Koreans to
the changing currents of feminist
studies abroad and to breathe vitality
into Korean feminism by applying
the learnings to our culture.
At KAFSEL, we believe in the
importance of sharing our research
and ideas with the world outside
lecture halls and academic journals.
We are resolved to giving voice
to feminism as a progressive social
movement rooted in the experiences
of everyday life.
